Brick Murals

Creating masterpieces in clay

Just think of the possibilities for your next project

Clay brick murals are a timeless art form and add a unique element to any type of structure. Perhaps you want to create a welcoming entrance to your subdivision development, or incorporate a historical art piece into your building. From whimsical to stoic, historical to promotional; murals can say a lot.

The process of creating these sculptures involves dry-stacking the unfired (green) clay units and then carving them. Once the mural has been carved, the individual units are numbered, dismantled, and fired through the tunnel kiln. They are then taken to the site and reassembled with mortar, in much the same way as a normal brick wall.

All of the brick murals featured here were created by Medicine Hat artist Jim Marshall. If you are interested in helping create your own piece of brick art, he can be contacted at (403) 527-2774.
